China launches high-speed 200 kph railway through Laos
China launched a high-speed railway through Laos on December 3.
Video captured in the city of Kunming in Yunnan Province shows the passenger and freight trains linking China's Kunming City and Lao's Vientiane city departing from Kunming.
After China-Laos Railway is put into operation, passengers can travel from Kunming to Vientiane in only about 10 hours. The distance is around 1,035 kilometres.
The railway is a link in a possible future network to connect China with Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, Malaysia and Singapore, which would give southern China more access to ports and export markets.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
