Indonesians plunged into darkness after village covered in ash from Mount Semeru eruption

A village in East Java, Indonesia was shrouded in ash after Mount Semeru erupted on December 4.

Volcanic ash from the eruption landed on villages within a 15km (9.3 mile) radius, turning buildings and roads a dark grey.

Footage filmed at 4pm local time, shows the village of Sumberwuluh in total darkness an hour after the volcano erupted.
