A performance of Moulin Rouge in London on Saturday 4 December was cancelled because of a Covid-19 outbreak amongst staff.

The show - one of the most hotly-anticipated in the West End for years - was due to throw open its doors at London's Piccadilly Theatre on Friday 3 December.

Friday and Saturday's performances were both cancelled.

It is not known if the positive case was the Omicron variant, though that would close an entire show as current government rules require contacts of a positive Omicron case to isolate too.

The show is reportedly the first to make masks mandatory as part of the ticket booking terms and conditions.
