Two police officers in Salford, UK, attempted to arrest a man for not wearing a mask inside a shop even though he claimed he was exempt.

Elliot filmed as he was approached by the officers while ordering a sandwich at a Subway store on December 5.

The filmer repeatedly claimed that he was exempt from wearing a mask due to his asthma as the officer requested to know why he was exempt.

Another officer wearing his mask below his nose walks over and Elliot states: "You're not even wearing your mask properly.

"He's got his nose out and he's trying to tell me to wear a mask while ordering a Subway when I'm exempt for asthma, so mind your business."

Elliot told Newsflare: "I was in my local Subway ordering a sandwich. When the police officer that happened to be in there at the same time as me began rudely interrupting my conversation with the subway worker.

"After explaining I’m exempt and don’t need a mask the police officer then tried to arrest me. After a good 10 to 15 minutes of intimidating me, the police took all my personal details and said I should be expecting a charged fine for not wearing a mask."

The clip was posted to Twitter by Elliot and has received over 1 million views with Laurence Fox and Nigel Farage retweeting it.

According to Gov.co.uk: "In England, face coverings must now be worn in shops and shopping centres, in transport hubs and on public transport."
