Heart-stopping footage shows teenager narrowly missing being mown down by impatient driver
Heart-stopping footage shows the moment a teenager narrowly missed being mown down by an impatient driver at a Christmas Fayre.
Ethan Smart, 19, was riding his moped when a Mazda careered in front of him as it jumped a queue of traffic caused by the opening of a festive market.
The near miss was captured on Ethan’s helmet camera as he rode through Worcester city centre last Thursday (2/12) afternoon.
More than 10,000 festive revellers descended on the city to enjoy the opening of the annual Victorian Christmas Fayre which caused long tailbacks.
The clip shows Ethan, who was on his way home from college, swerve into the central reservation as the silver car suddenly pulled out into the teenager’s lane.
Ethan’s mum Jennie, 46, of Worcester, said: “My son was on his way home from college when this idiot almost hit him.
"He didn't even look. I'm fuming.
"My son was on a moped which is lit up like Blackpool illuminations.
"He would have seen him if he had bothered to look.
"It's just a total disregard for other road users.
"Then just after the lights he pulls back in and goes on up the London Road.
"Worcester traffic is terrible and the Victorian Fayre just adds to that.
"It does sound like I'm moaning about the Fayre, I'm not I think it brings in much needed business to our city.
"I'm not concerned about that, I'm more concerned about the recklessness of drivers especially this one in and around Worcester."
West Mercia Police are investigating the incident.
This video was captured on the 2th of December 2021.
