A Ryanair plane had to abort its landing at Bristol Airport as Storm Barra winds struck on December 7.

Footage shows the Boeing 737-800 from Budapest abort its first landing attempt.

The filmer told Newsflare: "After performing a 'go around/aborted landing' manoeuvre the aircraft requested vectors from ATC to keep them away from the airport where there were currently cumulonimbus clouds directly overhead."

This Ryanair Boeing 737-800 had to abort its first landing attempt at Bristol airport today (7th December 2021) due to the very strong winds from Storm Barra as it swept across the UK. After performing a 'go around/aborted landing' manouevere the aircraft requested vectors from ATC to keep them away from the airport where there were currently cumulonimbus clouds directly overhead.

The plane held to the north of the airport until the thunderstorm had passed through and then requested to land on runway 27 due to the change in wind direction from a southerly to a south-westerly wind. The 1st landing attempt was at 12:28pm and the aircraft landed successfully on the 2nd attempt at 13:01. At the time of the 1st approach the surface wind was gusting up to 40 knots (46mph). This was flight FR8207 from Budapest (operated by Buzz).
