A doctor in Cao Band, Vietnam, managed to extract dozens of parasitic worms from a patient's eyes.

Footage from September 8 shows the doctor using a thin instrument to pull the worms from their patient's eyes.

The woman had arrived at the clinic saying she had itchy and painful eyes.

After an examination, the doctor discovered parasitic worms named flukes in her eyes.

This may have been caused by the woman washing her face in a river, according to the doctor.

The doctor quickly proceeded to remove the flukes from the woman's eyes. There is a tapeworm nearly 5cm long crawling in the woman's eye.
The woman panicked when she saw the parasitic worms being removed from her eye. She said a few weeks ago she washed her face in the river. This may have been the cause of the flukes getting into her eyes.
The doctor said it will take a few days for the woman to recover. The doctor advised her not to wash her face in rivers and dirty water sources.
