A man was arrested after climbing onto the fifth floor of a building barehanded and stealing two bananas in eastern China.

Video filmed in the city of Shanghai on November 15 shows a man trying to open the doors of parked cars in a residential community.

In another clip the man looked around before starting to climb the outer wall of a residential building with his bare hands.

After a while, the man was seen walking out of the community while eating a banana.

According to reports, the man named Cao stole more than 90 yuan (£11) from a car before climbing into a flat through its open window on the fifth floor of the building to steal two bananas.

The flat owner found that someone stole the items from his place after he woke up so he called the police. Police then caught Cao.

Cao said he needed money recently and he had drunk some alcohol on that day. So the idea of stealing came to his mind.

Cao was arrested on suspicion of theft and the case is under further investigation.

男子徒手爬6楼偷两根香蕉被批捕
11月15日0点左右，上海嘉定，一名身穿风衣的男子独自在小区里徘徊，趁夜深路上无人，逐一去拉动停放车辆的车门实施盗窃。
男子又鬼鬼祟祟地来到居民楼附近，四下查看后，竟开始徒手向上攀爬，爬到六楼翻进了一户未关窗居民家中，而这次盗窃的，竟然只有两根香蕉。
嘉定区人民检察院第一检察部检察官助理姚远介绍：“先是通过拉车门的方式窃取了被害人车内现金90余元，又通过徒手攀爬的方式进入另一名受害人家中，经过翻找没有发现值钱财物后，看到桌面果盘上有香蕉，就拿了两个香蕉。”
男子听到被害人起床声后，仓皇逃离了现场。当天早晨，被害人见家中有被翻动痕迹于是立即向公安机关报案，最终民警根据线索，成功抓获了嫌疑人曹某。

据曹某交代，由于自己最近手头紧，当天晚上他喝了一斤白酒后便起了盗窃的念头。

嘉定区人民检察院第一检察部检察官助理姚远表示：“虽然偷到的财物价值较小，但是入户盗窃只要完成了财物的盗取，就算犯罪既遂，就将要以盗窃罪接受处罚。曹某首先有一个入户盗窃的既遂，然后因为曾经5年内有一次盗窃徒刑前科，这次的盗窃将会被认定为累犯，也是法定的从重处罚。”

目前，犯罪嫌疑人曹某因涉嫌盗窃罪被检察机关批准逮捕，案件还在进一步审理中。
