Footage has emerged of deserted streets as the people of Yangon participated in a 'silent strike' against Myanmar's coup, on Friday 10 December.

The day is celebrated worldwide as Human Rights Day.

Traffic in the city normally clogs the streets but video showed barely any vehicles or people on the normally busy streets.

There have been rolling protests, many of them ending in bloody crackdowns by troops, following the country's military takeover on 1 February.

Leader Aung San Suu Kyi was detained in the coup and has since been convicted in the first of several widely-criticised trials, which could see her jailed for life.

Many Myanmar’s people participate in the silent strike for against the junta in Yangon and this silent strike is celebrated for Human Right day. Normaly, Every Friday is car traffic day but today the traffic is clear as many people stay in their homes because of the protest against the junta by the silent strike parrticipated.
