The UK's coronavirus alert level has been raised from three to four due to the spread of the new variant, Omicron.

Footage filmed on Sunday (December 12) shows hordes of people on Oxford Street, one of the capital's main shopping street.

On Sunday, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced an acceleration in the coronavirus booster vaccine programme so all adults can be offered a jab before the end of December.

“There is a tidal wave of Omicron coming,” Johnson said in a televised address on Sunday evening.

Level four means a high or rising level of transmission. It is the first time since May that the UK was at level four.
