Indonesia quake: Locals scatter onto street and flee amid tsunami warning

A powerful 7.3-magnitude earthquake hit off Indonesia's eastern coast on Tuesday (December 14).

In eyewitness footage filmed in Manggarai district, East Nusa Tenggara Province, at 10:20am local time, local residents can be seen scattering onto the street after feeling earthquake.

Meanwhile, residents on the coast away from the beach flee to higher ground. The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued a tsunami warning in the eastern region.

Up to an hour after the earthquake, the authorities had not lifted the tsunami early warning.

The latest report mentions that the coastal areas of North Flores and Sikka Island experience frequent tsunamis of 0.5 meters.
