Tens of thousands of fish have suddenly died and floated to the surface today (December 14) in a lake in Agam Regency in Indonesia.

According to officials, 552 tonnes of fish in Lake Maninjau perished due to "changes in the weather."

Officials said they expected the number of dead fish to grow in the coming days.

The Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Service of Agam Regency recorded that 552 tons of fish in Lake Maninjau died due to changes in the weather.

"From the data we have obtained until today, Tuesday (12/14/2021), the number of fish that died was 552 tons," said Head of the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Service of Agam Regency, Rosva Deswira.

He said that his party continues to update the current situation in Lake Maninjau.

"From the data we have now, there are 52 tons in the Tanjung Sani area, 300 tons in the Koto Kaciak area and 200 tons in the Koto Gadang area," he said.

According to him, this number will continue to grow, because more and more fish will die because of the current state of the lake.

Previously, hundreds of tons of fish in Lake Maninjau, Agam Regency, West Sumatra suddenly died on Saturday, December 11, 2021.

The dead fish are fish in farmer cages along Lake Maninjau.
