Eerie footage shows this strange-looking moth larva that resembles a piece of fried chicken crawling around.

Jaymes Jennings shared the video of the monkey slug caterpillar and said: "This weird boy visited me on a camping trip at Ohiopyle in Pennsylvania.

"Turns out he’s a hag moth larva, also known as a monkey slug caterpillar."

'Gripping footage highlighting a cool but creepy-looking moth larva has been shared by Jaymes Jennings.

In this video, the aforementioned creature dramatically writhes on the surface.

At first glance, this insect, identified as a monkey slug caterpillar, can easily be mistaken for a dead leaf, a flattened kitten, or, as gross as it may sound, a chicken tender.

"This weird boi visited me on a camping trip at Ohiopyle in PA," the filmer said. "Turns out he’s a Hag Moth Larva, also known as a Monkey Slug Caterpillar."

As per entomologist Eric Day, these insects are relatively rare. Moreover, he advised people to avoid getting close to them since they sting in defense.

This chilling moth encounter was caught on camera on August 30, 2020.
