Thousands of holiday-makers and Christmas travellers brought forward travel plans (Dec 17) in light of travel restrictions announced by the French government to curb the spread of the Omicron variant.
In a dash to leave the UK, passengers wanting to beat the deadline boarded the final Eurostar services to leave London for Paris on Friday evening. From Saturday, travellers from the UK to France must give a 'compelling reason' before being allowed into the country, with business and leisure trips banned.
