The first successful test flight of a short-range surface-to-surface Pralay ballistic missile was conducted in eastern India's Odisha on December 22. The incident took place from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha.

Visuals feature the final countdown beginning, following which the missile is launched towards the sky. Within seconds, dense clouds of white smoke engulf the area as the launch vehicle soars into the sky while the others behold the occurrence.

The new missile followed the desired quasi-ballistic trajectory and reached the designated target with high-degree accuracy, validating the control, guidance, and mission algorithms. It can hit the target at a range of 150 (93 miles) to 500 kilometres (310 miles) with an accuracy of fewer than 10 metres (0.006 miles).
