At least 40 people died and over 150 others were injured early Friday after a packed three-storey ferry carrying around 800 passengers caught fire on the Sugandha River in southern Bangladesh.
The fire broke out around 3:00 am (local time) on Friday in the engine room of the Barguna-bound MV Abhijan-10 launch that started a journey from Dhaka.

This person is an expatriate migrant worker, coming Dhaka, Capital of Bangladesh to give his 2nd dose of covid vaccine, after giving it he just left Dhaka and get the ticket of this launch for his home town, at midnight he found this launch gutted fire in the engine room, but after having the fire the launch did not stop but run for nearly 1 hour, after damaging the engine the launch stop running, the local villager used the boat to cross the river and rescued them, few passengers burnt, other died during sleep, few people jumped from the launch and swim.

Mr. Abdur Rashid, a coast guard rescue member of the Bangladesh Coast Guard. After having the emergency signal they came from their station and arrive at the spot, they are fully equipped for the rescue operation and they are doing it according to the instruction of his charge.
