An Indonesian housewife was surprised to find thousands of ancient coins while going to the garden not far from her house.

Footage filmed on Friday (December 24) in Daala Bulo village, Polewali Mandar district, West Sulawesi province, shows since the discovery of the coins, the home of the finder Bicci (30) has been busy with local and antique collectors.

The number of coins found was very large, 1770 coins of various types and sizes as well as the year of issue.

Coins believed from the Dutch East Indies era in the 1850s. Some other coins have a hole in the middle, thought to be from the royal era.

According to Bicci, coins discovery began when he slipped on a mound while passing through the garden, early last week. She saw on the ground there were some coins.

The next day Bicci passed the same path and found another coin. Out of curiosity, she called her husband and dug a mound of earth.

"We were surprised, there was an old jar that had been broken containing thousands of ancient coins," Bicci said.

They then brought the find home for safekeeping.

According to Bicci, the location of the discovery is where their ancestors lived. The money is believed to belong to their great-grandmother, who was deliberately kept in an urn to be buried for hundreds of years.

The plan is that the coins will be sold to ancient coin collectors if the price offered is right.
