Palestinians clash with Israeli forces in West Bank on Christmas Day leaving dozens injured
Footage shows clashes between Palestinians and Israeli troops in the West Bank on Christmas Day evening.
Protesters set alight bonfires and hurled rocks at the Israel Defense Force (IDF) soldiers, who responded by firing live rounds and tear gas at the crowds gathered in the area in Nablus on Saturday December 25.
The IDF claimed the violence erupted when gunmen opened fire at a military post near Nablus.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society, which attended the clashes, said at least seven Palestinians were shot with live rounds and 35 others with rubber bullets close to the village of Burqa, adjacent to the Homesh outpost. They said at least 95 others were treated for tear gas inhalation.
A 17-year-old boy was reportedly seriously hurt after suffering a gunshot wound to the head and was taken to the an-Najah hospital in Nablus. Israeli forces said he was shot after hurling a molotov cocktail petrol bomb at troops, who responded with gunfire.
The Hamas terror group praised the attacks on Israeli forces.
Local media reported that Abd al-Hakim Huneini, a senior official in the terror group’s West Bank division said that the 'enemy must prepare for a comprehensive battle with all our people, to defeat and uproot the occupation and settlements'.
