The legacy of the late Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu is one of "Ubuntu", according to his parish priest Selwyn Engelbrecht.

Engelbrect has been the priest to Desmond Tutu since 2015 at the St Oswald’s Anglican Church in Milnerton, Cape Town.

"Ubuntu" is a South African word that encapsulates brotherly love and humanity.

The Arch, as Desmond Tutu was fondly referred to, died at the Oasis Retirement Home, in the early hours of December 26.

The anti-apartheid icon was 90 years old and is survived by his wife Leah, 4 children, 7 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Tutu was also a Nobel peace laureate.

Tutu’s funeral is expected to take place on New Year’s Day, 1 January 2022.

The video also contains archive footage of Tutu’s last public appearance, when he cast his vote in South Africa’s 2021 municipal elections on 30 October.
