This is the moment of creative lazy genius on display in South Africa's Kruger National Park where three elephants are just hanging out at a watering hole on Tuesday (December 28, 2021) when the filmer notices something hilarious.

"While taking a rest on his brother’s head, the sneaky elephant attempted to use his trunk hanging on the other side to get to his brother’s mouth and steal some water out of his mouth! This was hilarious!" the filmer said.

The lazy elephant eventually drank his own water, but we must all applaud his efforts.

Watching the largest land mammal on earth in its natural environment is always a great privilege. These complex and highly intelligent giants are incredibly entertaining to watch. On many instances you can relate the behaviour of elephants back to our own human behaviour.
I was sitting alone one afternoon watching three bull elephants standing and drinking at a watering hole in the Kruger National Park. There were no other animals nearby and the whole setting in front of me was peaceful and calm. My attention slowly moved back to the three elephant brothers standing close to each other while enjoying a drink. Staring at the three elephants, I suddenly realised that the one elephant stopped drinking. At first it looked like the elephant bull was taking a break from drinking water, resting his head and trunk on top of his brother’s head. It was not long before I realised this guy had a sneaky plan. While taking a rest on his brother’s head, the sneaky elephant attempted to use his trunk hanging on the other side to get to his brother’s mouth and steal some water out of his mouth. This was hilarious to see and funny to think that the elephant resorted from drinking himself to sneaking water from his brother’s mouth. The bull elephant even attempted to get some water from his second brother but in both instances, he did not seem very successful. In the end the elephant bull realised it’s a lot more productive just to use his trunk to get his own water from the watering hole.
