Royal Navy to dismantle masts on shipwreck containing explosives in the Thames off Kent, UK
The Royal Navy are planning a two month operation to remove the masts from the UK's most dangerous shipwreck 'SS Richard Montgomery' in the Thames, which is due to take place in 2022.
The American built liberty ship sank 1.5 miles off the coast of Sheerness in Kent in 1944, with 1400 tonnes of explosives still onboard.
The shipwreck sank in between two major UK shipping channels: the Thames & the Medway approach channel.
Footage of the wreck taken at midday today (December 30).
