Spectacular slow-motion footage shows hundreds of yellow-billed choughs soaring over the Swiss Alps on January 2.

"You can often see them in big groups but this one was of particularly remarkable size," said the filmer, Olivier Staiger.

"They flew rather close to my location, in search of warm rising air," he added.

The audio featured in the clip was not recorded at the time and was added later.

Those are so-called Yellow-billed Choughs, a.k.a. Alpine Choughs. ( Pyrrhocorax graculus )
They often fly in large groups especially in winter.
