Firefighters in the Indonesian capital on Tuesday (January 4) removed a meter-long monitor lizard that had become stuck in a drain.

Footage captured in the Kemayoran area of Jakarta showed the team digging up the road to get to the hefty reptile.

After two hours, they managed to haul the lizard out by the tail and it was taken to the fire department prior to its release.

dramatic monitor lizard evacuation in which officers had to dismantle the gutter floor using machines and chopping iron.

officers were assisted by residents to evacuate for more than two hours. because the lizard with a large size wedged between the iron gutter. in the end the officer had to pull the one meter long lizard tail out.

After being evacuated the monitor lizard was secured to the Kemayoran Central Jakarta Fire Department.
