The sea off the coast of Vladivostok in Russia froze over on New Year's Day as temperatures plummeted below minus 20 degrees Celsius.

The filmer of this clip, who is from Vietnam, said she could barely believer her eyes when she woke up to a thick covering of white over the water.

According to the filmmaker, she is a Vietnamese living and working in Russia. This was the first time she had seen the freezing of the sea. She had only seen a frozen lake before but had never seen a frozen sea before.
The seawater completely freezes creating a white covering area. This is considered a white sea area because the temperature below minus 20 degrees Celsius will make this sea area completely freeze and create a white coast.
People can easily walk on the sea because the sea surface has frozen and created a thick layer of ice.
