Tidal surge on the Thames floods jetty in Kent, UK
Weather conditions caused a tidal surge in the Thames Estuary this afternoon (January 5), resulting in the jetty in Sheerness, Kent being flooded this afternoon.
A high tide of 6 metres was predicted, but the surge resulted in the actual tide reaching 70cm higher (as recorded by Southend's titdal gauge), giving anyone choosing to sit on the benches fitted at the end of the jetty a real 'sea view'!
