Brave barefooted monk showers huge crocodile with a hosepipe
A brave Buddhist monk showers an enormous crocodile with a hose pipe – barefooted and wearing only his orange robes.
The devout religious follower, named Phra Ayutthaya, soaks the deadly reptile with the cool water once a week at the temple in Bangkok, Thailand.
Footage shows the resident crocodile named relaxing while receiving his daily shower on December 26.
Temple visitor Krish Thepbutdee said: ‘I went to the temple while waiting for my aunt to finish her shopping. I was surprised when I saw the monk cleaning up the pond and washing up the crocodile as if it’s not a dangerous animal.’
Buddhist temples often keep a range of unusual animals – many of them donated or rescued – as followers of the religion believe that caring for the creatures will score them extra points when they cross into the afterlife.
Despite being kept as a temple pet, the crocodile in the video is fed with fresh meat and still possesses its killer natural instinct if provoked or hungry.
