A clever dog in Thailand only crosses the road when the traffic lights stop at red.

Video shows the black pooch named Chok sitting next to a road island at an intersection and looking up at the traffic light in Phetchabun province, Thailand on Wednesday January 5.

Upon seeing the light turn red and the cars stop moving, the intelligent canine runs across the road to reach the other side safely.

Locals said that Chok was a stray dog but he was adopted by two residents living on opposite sides of the road.

Police Lieutenant Watchara Thoopthong said: ‘I have been working in this spot for years and this dog always waits for the lights to go red.

‘People should learn how to follow traffic rules as this dog does. I’m afraid something might happen to Chok if some driver happened to disobey the traffic lights.’
