At 8pm Saturday night 8th January police and firefighters broke into a car on Lonsdale St, Melbourne CBD to rescue a kitten abandoned in the car. Aleisha, who was out to dinner across the road with friends, filmed the few attempts firefighters made at unlocking the car without breaking the glass and further frightening the cat. A firefighter eventually put on a glove and smashed a back window and reached in to unlock the car. The kitten was then removed and placed in a box, where police took it to a vet to get checked and cared for.
