A scuba diver recovered a tourist’s diamond ring that was lost in a waterfall in Thailand.

Holidaymaker Nit Phokul visited Khlong Lan waterfalls with her daughter and sisters during the holidays when she accidentally slipped and fell into the stream in Kamphaeng Phet province on January 6.

As she climbed out of the water, Nit realised that her gold diamond ring was missing from her finger. The accessory has 10 diamonds, weighing a total of 1 carat.

Devastated Nit called a scuba diver from the Khlong Lan National Park to help retrieve her valuable jewellery. Armed with a metal scanner, the man dived into the rapids and searched for the ring.

After 35 minutes, he found the accessory crammed between some stones in a rocky section of the riverbed. He fished the ring out, to the relief of the delighted tourist.

Nit said: ‘I’m very happy to have my ring back. I would like to thank the National Park officers and the diver for helping.

‘It cost a lot of money but also has sentimental value. I will keep it safe and won’t wear it in situations like this where it’s easy to lose.’
