Palestinian protesters clashed with Israeli troops near the West Bank city of Ramallah today (January 11).

According to local media, one Palestinian was hit in the head by a rubber bullet and dozens of others inhaled tear gas fired by Israeli soldiers.

The protesters, many of whom were university students, marched to voice their anger at an army raid on January 10 at Birzeit University during which student leaders were arrested.

One person was hit by a rubber bullet in the head and dozens suffocated from tear gas inhalation during clashes with Israeli soldiers today at the northern entrance to Ramallah, according to witnesses.

They said soldiers at an army checkpoint fired rubber bullets and tear gas canisters at dozens of university students who marched to the location to protest an army raid at Birzeit University campus yesterday and the arrest of student leaders.
