Social media users have made a hilarious comparison between a one-eyed fish and a suspicious lover after a video of the bizarre-looking beast was shared online.

Fisherman Roman Fedortsov, 39, from Murmansk, Russia, usually catches cod, haddock and mackerel while out on the Norwegian and Barents seas – but shared a video of a curious species he identified as a ‘ruff’ fish.

In the clip, the pink-coloured creature has one large bulging eye on one side, but as Roman pans the camera around it is revealed that the second eye is missing.

The fish’s mouth is agape during the clip and it is not clear how the eye came to be missing.

The video drummed up more than 8,000 likes.

In the caption, Roman also shared a traditional recipe for cooking the fish – but his followers were more interested in it’s strange look.

One person joked: “This is probably a fish woman looking at her man’s phone, evolution has done its job.”

“Does this eye only have one eye attached?!” another user commented.

Someone else added: “Oh my god! It has got only one eye, incredible!”
