This snake rescuer managed to free a deadly cobra that was stuck on a glue trap in Pune, Maharashtra.

The serpent was found by a shop owner in the city and he called Saidas Kusal to rescue the animal.

Kusal used coconut oil to slowly remove the glue from the exhausted cobra's body.

The rescuer eventually managed to remove the glue from the snake's body and took it home for another round of scrubbing before freeing it in a nearby forest.

Kusal said: "Glue traps are cruel. People should stop using them to control rodents. Snakes get trapped in them frequently and it is always a huge challenge to free them.”

An owner of a shop in Pune in western India was fed up with the rat menace and placed a glue trap in the attic to catch the rodents.

When he checked it later, he found a four-feet-long cobra trapped in the glue. The snake had come to hunt the rats and had ventured into the glue trap to find prey.

The scared owner called snake rescuer Saidas Kusal, who found the badly trapped cobra lying without any movement. The venomous snake had struggled all night long to free itself in vain and was totally exhausted.

Saidas brought the glue trap with the snake outside and worked slowly to remove the glue from its body using coconut oil.

The task was risky as he had to remove the sticky substance from all over the snake’s body, including head and mouth, working with just bare hands. There was a risk of the snake getting too close and having a go at him.

Working with intense concentration, Saidas freed the snake from the trap and then took it home for another round of thorough scrubbing before freeing it in a nearby forest.

The snake slithered away without any twig or pebble sticking on to its body.

Saidas said: “Glue traps are cruel. People should stop from using them to control rodents. Snakes get trapped in them frequently and it is always a huge challenge to free them.”
