Trapped stray leopard rescued by forest officials in central India
A leopard that had strayed away from the forest and got trapped in a wire, was rescued by forest officials after over 10 hours in central India's Madhya Pradesh.
The incident took place in Ikra Tola area in Lakhanpura Beat near Madiyado of Hatta forest range of Damoh district. The leopard had reached the area on Tuesday night, while it was rescued on Wednesday afternoon.
Visuals showed the agitated leopard snarling a few times as the locals gathered to see the trapped beast. After much consideration the rescue team used a dart gun and tranquillised the big feline, before using a stretcher to carry it to a cage.
Hridesh Hari Bhargava, Forest Range Officer of Madiyado buffer area, said that a rescue team had been sent upon receiving the news. The same was also confirmed by Damoh's Forest Division Officer Mahendra Singh Uike.
