A mum has shared a genius hack for cleaning oven racks without using any chemicals – and all you’ll need is some grass.

Bethany Priest, 25, from West Midlands, decided to try out a rather unique tip she had seen online while searching for chemical-free cleaning methods.

The bizarre method involves removing the oven racks and simply leaving them overnight to soak in grass.

Bethany placed her racks in the long grass of her garden and left them for 24 hours, before scrubbing it with a scourer sponge and then rinsing it with hot soapy water.

She was stunned to see her racks shiny and good as new.

“Before the racks were full of burnt grime and rust,” Bethany, a hotel receptionist, told Jam Press.

“I heard this tip when looking for chemical free cleaning ideas online.

“I took an oven rack and put it in long grass for 24 hours, then brought it in and dried it down before giving it a scrub with a scourer sponge to get all the strains off – which came off really easily.

“Then once I had done all of that, I finished it off by cleaning it in hot soapy water.

"I found the grime was just falling right off and left it looking new.

"It helped as all the moisture in the grass loosened all the grime on the rack making it easy to wipe off after 24 hours.

"It was also chemical free to do and didn’t cost a penny!"

Bethany shared the tip on Facebook, where hundreds of people commented on the impressive results.

One person said: “I’m going to give it a go with my BBQ racks..1 job I hate doing so if the grass can do the dirty work let’s do this.”

“Blood hell gonna try this! My racks are to big for the oven cleaning bags so this is awesome!” another user added.

Someone else commented: “This is gonna be a regular occurrence now, just the norm to see your neighbours putting their household items on the grass!”

“I live in a flat, I’m going to drop my whole oven in the park tonight,” joked another viewer.

Other people were desperate to try out the hack for themselves and vowed to give it a go.
