Half of France's primary schools were closed today (January 13) as teachers across the country went on strike over COVID-19 measures in the education sector.

Among a list of demands, teachers are calling for better protection for staff and students against infection.

Teachers across the country went on strike on Thursday. As about 75% of teachers were expected to join, more than half of the primary schools were closed.

Teachers were demanding the government to have better policies on COVID measures in the education sector, including protecting infected staff and students, providing masks, and so on.
