A life-sized Gundam statue amazed visitors as it started moving during a snow storm in Yokohama, Japan.
Footage filmed on January 6 shows the gigantic humanoid robot appearing to light up and walk out of its docking station before making a heroic pose.
The impressive 60ft-tall moving model that weighs a staggering 25 tonnes is considered the central attraction of the Gundam Factory Yokohama in Yamashita Pier. It began construction back in 2014 and was only opened to the public in December 2020 due to the global pandemic.
Visitors who come to see the statue can climb up the viewing decks to take a closer look at the towering RX-78-2 Gundam suit, which changes poses every 30 minutes.
The statue is joined by two other large-scale Gundam models in Japan – the RX-o Unicron Gundam in Tokyo, and the 24-metre-tall RX-93 Nu Gundam in Fukuoka City.
Gundam is part of an anime franchise created by Yoshiyuki Tomino. The genre-defining Gundam franchise is an influential sci-fi war drama that popularised the use of giant mecha robots in Japanese animations.
