DFDS suspends new Calais to Sheerness freight route due to 'operational difficulties', UK

DFDS's unaccompanied freight ferry route between Calais & Sheerness, Kent has been suspended with the last sailing of the ship Maxine taking place this morning (January 14).

DFDS have cited 'operational difficulties' as the reason for the suspension.

The new route got off to a bad start when Calais dock workers blockaded the ship from being able to leave Calais on its maiden journey back in July 2021, until concessions were made by DFDS.

Footage shows ferry Maxine leaving its Sheerness berth this morning.
