Magnitude 6.7 earthquake damages buildings in Indonesia

Footage shows the aftermath of a magnitude 6.7 earthquake that rocked Indonesia on Friday morning January 14.

The tremors were felt at around 04.05 am local time. The epicenter of the earthquake was 197 kilometers southwest of Jakarta.

Dozens of buildings in Banten province were damaged. Video shows the aftermath of the quake as locals walked through the fallen bricks and collapsed roofs.

The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) announced that the epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 10 kilometers.

They said the epicentre of the earthquake was at sea, in the province of Banten.

‘The vibration was quite strong for a few seconds,’ said Aris, a visitor to a mall in Jakarta.

Residents who were active in the building ran outside. It is not yet known about the impact of damage and casualties due to this earthquake.
