Ownership of the McDonoghville cemetery of the enslaved plagues the city of New Orleans and Greta. John McDonogh the original plantation owner from the 1800’s willed the cemetery to the City of Baltimore Maryland. However, Baltimore never took ownership. The cemetery has been plagued with neglect , mismanagement , corruption, and a host of other grievances the city of Gretna and New Orleans have failed to address. Joan had done extensive research on the issues and been completely ignored by all governing officials. John McDonogh has a very storied history in NewOrleans and monuments are scattered through out New Orleans in his honor.
