A police officer and motorists teamed up to free an elk that had got its antlers trapped in low-hanging wires in Omsk, southern Russia.

The officer managed to flag down passing motorists to aid with the rescue efforts.

After a two-hour operation, the elk was eventually freed as the wires were cut.

This footage was filmed on January 16.

The animal caught its horns on low-hanging wires. Elk tried to free himself, but only worsened his situation. At the end, the wires were already wrapped around his neck. The elk began to choke, his tongue turned blue.

A police officer attracted drivers passing along the road to help the moose. They readily responded to the request: they provided cables, hooks and wire cutters. It took about two hours to free the elk. The moose was raised to its feet, its movements were limited by ropes. All this was rather unsafe: the frightened animal kicked from time to time. When the wires were cut and untangled, the elk did not immediately go to the forest. Even had to shout at him.
