Harvest festival is celebrated in many states of India including Tamilnadu. This festival is also celebrated in Ananaimalai Tiger reserve where 24 elephants are sheltered. These elephants are tamed elephants and they are used to handle the wild jumbos when they reach human habitations. These elephants too join in the festive mood. They first took bath in the nearby stream, got dressed and they worshiped "Elephant God" by pouring water on the statue of the God. Some even splashed water on the priest. People who gathered around laughed. Then they went to enjoy their feast that included a sweet dish made out of rice and lentils, sugarcane, fruits, jaggery etc. They were lined up with decorations and garlands.
