A Tesco security guard is being investigated after shocking footage captured a mass brawl breaking out inside a supermarket between staff and two suspected thieves.

The violent scenes erupted at the superstore in Aston, Birmingham, when security tried to apprehend a pair of alleged shoplifters on Sunday afternoon (9/1).

Dramatic mobile phone footage shows a Tesco worker swinging at one of the suspects as he pleads: "Don't hit me, I've got nothing to do with it."

The same store bouncer then runs over to another person being grappled by staff and aggressively delivers several heavy "MMA-style" elbows to his back.

The person filming the footage can be heard saying: "It's getting silly in here. It's all mad. He's mashing him up here. Oh s**t."

Meanwhile, an elderly woman can be seen walking into shot and casually continuing her shopping as the violence breaks out around her.

West Midlands Police confirmed they were called to the superstore on Aston Lane at 3.40pm on Sunday after a Tesco staff member was punched in the face.

This video was filmed on the 9th January 2022 around 3.40pm.
