Hit Directly By Embedded Rotating Supercell In Derecho That Traveled Across The U.S. For Hundreds Of Miles
As rookie storm chasers we put ourselves directly in a area of an embedded rotating supercell in a massive Derecho. We did not realize we could easily be hit by a rain wrapped QLCS spin up and we definitely should not been parked feet from the Ohio River. A porta potta roughly 100 feet behind us flew through the air landing next to us as it also was being blown into the river. Not going to lie, it was terrifying. Lessons were learned :) Not a rookie anymore ;)
