Taiwan's roads are safer than many in Asia but three clips show why the island still has its share of accidents.

In one, shot in Yilan County on 4 July 2020, and impatient cyclist who would not wait to cross the road, was nearly killed or seriously hurt in a collision with an oncoming car.

In another, shot in Kaohsiung City on 14 November 2021, a moped nearly has a head-on collision with a car dangerously overtaking from the other direction.

That car got extremely close before the moped could swerve out of the way, surely avoiding a deadly fate if they had not.

And in the final clip, filmed in Yongkang District on 13 November 2021, an impatient car driver turned into the path of an oncoming moped, nearly wiping them out.

Why did this cyclist think it would be a good idea to cross on busy roads? This was a very close call. This cyclist almost got wiped out by oncoming traffic when they decided to cross instead of waiting for a safer time to do so. This idiotic moment caused the rider to beep their horn and yell at the cyclist. Luckily, the rider reacted in time avoiding a collision and injury.

When this moped rider was casually driving down a highway in Kaohsiung City, they saw this vehicle on the wrong side of the road overtaking another car. They got extremely close and this led to the moped rider beeping their horn and slowing their speed to avoid an accident. Luckily, this moped rider was paying attention to the road ahead and reacted just in time.

A very close call in Yongkang District. A reckless driver got very impatient and thought it would be a good idea to skip through a red light. As a result, the moped riders that were continuing through the traffic lights yelled and beeped at the driver. If the moped rider wasn’t paying attention, they could have been knocked off and got seriously injured.
