A pontoon bridge capsized in southern China on Sunday (January 23) tipping 18 residents into a river in southern China.

Video filmed in the city of Guilin on Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on January 23 shows the dramatic scene as the temporary structure rolled over.

Other footage showed more than a dozen residents making their way to the shore.

According to local reports, the pontoon bridge was intended for pedestrians and electric bikes only and motor vehicles were banned.

All 18 people who were crossing at the time made it to the banks of the river uninjured.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
