Footage shows the acrobat, named Darina, tapping on her phone with her crossed legs in the air as her long black hair was tied to the metal bar in Shanghai on January 21.

She even had a call from baffled Communist officials asking her what she was doing.

The Russian performer, who is part of the Shanghai Circus, said she was only trying to practice an act during her downtime but a lot of people took notice of the bizarre scene.

She then received a call from the Shanghai Metro managers demanding she explain to them what was happening and why she was hanging by her hair.

She said: 'I have been practising this move for half a year. I want to remind everyone that it was a dangerous trick and should not be tried if untrained.'
