Light snow fell as a cold spell hit Saudi Arabia's northern regions.

Footage shows snow and strong winds whipping through the Turaif governate in the country's Northern Borders province on January 20.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said temperatures will continue to drop below freezing in the northern part of Saudi Arabia until the weekend.

The Turaif governorate regularly experiences the coldest temperatures across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This winter, it saw the lowest temperature of 6 degrees Celsius below zero but has seen temperatures of minus 12 degrees in the past.
