This is the harrowing-turned-heartwarming scene in Perungalathur, Kanchipuram, India where a dog has been lost and trapped for 72 hours inside an abandoned well on January 23.

The street dogs stumbled into the well days prior to villagers spotting the stranded soul and immediately calling in a rescue team, which attached ropes and airlifted the hungry dog out, where it was fed and is recovering.

Location: Omalur, Salem District of Tamilnadu state.

There was an abandoned well near the highway in Omallur. A street dog fell into this abandoned well and hence the well is near the highway the cries of the dog were not heard by the villagers. Sunday lockdown helped the dog as there were no vehicles on the road. Hence the cries were heard by the villagers. They went and peeped inside the well and to their surprise they saw a dog inside. Then without any delay they called the fire and rescue team. They rushed to the spot and a rescuer got down in the well. Tied ropes around the dog and it was airlifted. On seeing the condition the rescuers said “the dog is more than three days inside the well and that's why it's so weak”. The dog was fed with some milk later
