Air customs officials recover 8 gold coins from passenger's footwear in southern India
The air customs officials intercepted a passenger and recovered eight gold coins hidden in his footwear in southern India's Kerala on January 23.
The incident took place in Kozhikode.
Visuals feature the officials examining the footwear. He slices open the lower part of the slipper and retrieves a paper envelope. Then, he empties the packet to reveal a few gold coins wrapped in plastic.
The passenger arrived from Dubai when he was intercepted at the airport and searched upon a smuggling suspicion.
