hundred of people hunt fish in forbiden pond on lumasang river
In West Sumatra there is a very good practice in fish preservation. In almost every river there is such a thing as the pit of prohibition. The length of the prohibition pit is usually one hundred meters to one kilometer depending on the agreement of the villagers.
there is a time when the pit of this prohibition is reopened. usually once a year. duration from only two hours to 3 days.
one river can consist of many depths of prohibition. depending on the number of villages crossed by this river.
This method makes the sustainability of fish very awake. there is no overfishing here..
this is one of the atmospheres when the ban area of Koto Kaciek village, Bonjol sub-district, Pasaman was opened.
hundreds of people, young and old, men and women came down to hunt fish.
they run to find a place to scatter their path. usually the first street spreader has a great chance of getting fish.
Their target is Gariang fish. the most delicious fish in Sumatra rivers. including in this Lumasang river.
Unfortunately this time the timing wasn't right. the previous day this river was apparently flooded. many of the fish in this forbidden pit are drifting downstream.
